Scripture

Galatians 6:9 (NKJV) 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. (NKJV)

2 Samuel 12:19-20 (NKJV) 19 David noticed that his attendants were whispering among themselves, and he realized the child was dead. “Is the child dead?” he asked.

“Yes,” they replied, “he is dead.”

20 Then David got up from the ground. After he had washed, put on lotions and changed his clothes, he went into the house of the Lord and worshiped. Then he went to his own house, and at his request they served him food, and he ate.

Psalm 73:26 (NKJV) 26 My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the [g]strength of my heart and my portion forever.

When 2020 started, we were all excited about the new year and the new blessings it would bring. We wished prosperous blessings to everyone connected to us as we bounced into the new year. We hoped that this year would be a year of reaping good things that would make us smile. As the year progressed, we continued to speak life, but then the unexpected started happening. People began experiencing illness; loss of loved ones, jobs, property, and so much more. Before we knew it, weariness sat on us and decided it would be our habitat. We struggled to keep speaking life while receiving sad news. We strived to be encouraged, but the news we were receiving was the direct opposite of what we were trying to speaking. Amidst it all, we turn our eyes and our attention to God and worshipped. At that moment, our worship confronted our weariness. Our worship decided to drive.

If I am honest, I have had many weary moments in the past few months. Does that mean I did not experience victory…no. It simply means, I have some challenging moments. However, what I have realized is that when I began to pour my oil of worship on Jesus’ feet, my weariness left! I began to remember Who God is to me. I started exalting Him above how I felt, what was going on, and what was trying to hold me down. When worship confronts our weariness, it annihilates it! Does that mean our troubles go away? At times yes, but during our times of worship is when God gives us strategies and directions to deal with what we are facing through His word. He down loads revelations that propel us past our feelings and causes us to remember our purpose.

Worship has a way of changing the atmosphere and our focus to Who has our life in His hand… God! If I had to call on a witness from the bible, David would be my witness. He had experienced weariness when his son fell ill. He fasted, prayed, and cried before God. His son died and he did something that shocked his servants. He got up, showered, went to the church, and worshipped. He realized that he could not bring his son back, but that God was still worthy of his worship. When we allow our worship to confront our weariness, our view of our situations change. We realize that our focus should be on Who created us. You may have been hit hard this year, but whatever you do, don’t every let your weariness or worry outweigh your worship. If you have to put on some worship music or listen to an encouraging sermon, do it. You may have to write down all the victories you have experienced in your life time to remind you that if you made it out victoriously then, it will happen again.

Find strength through your worship! When nothing makes sense, worship. When you feel like you are getting weary although you are doing good, worship. With tears running down your face, worship!

Prayer

Dear God,

I have been weary so many times, but I am so glad that you meet me where I am when I worship you. You comfort me when I am hurting and then you build me up in your word. God give me strength to worship you when I am weary. I do not want weariness have a stronghold in my life. Give me a spirit of prayer and worship daily, so that I am able to hear from you. Thank you for your promises that remind me not to get weary in well doing. Give me the strength to be strong and I will praise you!

Amen
