We Survived On Broken Pieces
Scripture
Acts 27:42-44 NKJV
"And the soldiers' plan was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim away and escape. But the centurion, wanting to save Paul, kept them from their purpose and commanded that those who could swim should jump overboard first and get to land, and the rest, some on boards and some on parts of the ship. And so it was that they all escaped safely to land."
As the world recognized that the pandemic started about a year ago, I found myself thinking about how this past year went. I thought about the many things that happened throughout the year. I thought about the many tears we have all shed tears of both sadness and joy. I thought about decisions that needed to be made amid uncertainty. I reflected on the different times when I had to encourage myself because everyone was going through their own storm. As I thought, I realized that although the year had many ups and downs, WE SURVIVED ON BROKEN PIECES!
Has it been easy? No, but we survived! Our survival means that our lives carry weight for the present and our future! We survived for a reason.
Acts 27:44 stated “some on boards and some on parts of the ship. And so it was that they all escaped safely to land." The miracle is in the "THEY ALL ESCAPED"! I looked back on the last year, we escaped so much. Some may argue and say we didn't all escape COVID-19, but we all escaped what God wanted us to escape in some form. While some may have passed away, they escaped the problems of this world. Some may have lost their jobs, but they became business owners…CEOs! Our faith was tested, but we found strength we never knew we possessed. We realized that there was more to our lives than we ever thought or imagined.
Prayer
Dear God,
Thank you for your continued faithfulness! I have survived this past year on broken pieces and I owe it all to you. Lord, remind me on the hard days that if I made it on broken pieces before, I have the power to do it again. If you delivered me then, it's because I have so much more to do. Strengthen me and help my unbelief in challenging times. Thank you for my safe escape. Amen

This was so simple yet powerful, Ninalynn! Even as we go through our various situations, we can actively declare that we survived...
