Scripture

Matthew 12:34b  (NKJV) 34b “…For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.”

Luke 6:45  (NKJV)  45 “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.”

Psalm 51:10 (NKJV) 10 “Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.”

Daniel 3 :17-18 (The Voice) 17 If you throw us into the blazing furnace, then the God we serve is able to rescue us from a furnace of blazing fire and release us from your power, Your Majesty.  18 But even if He does not, O king, you can be sure that we still will not serve your gods and we will not worship the golden statue you erected.

Intentional Inspiration

A few weeks ago, I found myself reflecting on the last two years of my life and I realized the leading character was my heart posture. When I thought of the major wins, accomplishments, challenges, and sacrifices, my heart posture mattered. I understood the importance of Psalms 51:10. The only way I would succeed was with a clean and renewed heart daily. It was essential that my heart and mind were not cluttered with my own thinking and plans. It was evident that periodic adjustments were required along the way. I had to yield my heart completely to God and trust that He was working on my behalf behind the scenes for me.

A few weeks ago, promotion came knocking at my door suddenly and while many people congratulated me, God emphasized that my heart posture was key throughout the process. Initially, I was apprehensive about the interview, the timing, and the process, but once my focus shifted to my trust in God and Who He was, my breathing steadied. I began speaking life as I prepared. Even after the interview, I felt like the three Hebrew boys, “I know my God is able even if He does not deliver me” (Daniel 3:17-18). It was no longer about the job but about how I viewed God’s purpose in the opportunity. Less than a week later I received a call informing me of the job offer and I praised God.

While I praised God I drifted to the months leading up to the above moment. I found myself having to adjust and realign my heart with God’s will. As much as I wanted it, things did not always go my way. If I am honest there were many times where I felt like God had me out here looking like a punk. I was frustrated, annoyed, and at times wanted to give up. However, once my tantrum was over, I spent time in His presence often and opened my heart to trusting God again. I continued to dive in God’s word and started declaring His word to my life’s situations.

Like me, you may have had to deal with many challenges that buffeted your faith.  But as we prepare to enter 2025, our heart posture, our words, and thoughts will determine the level of success and how much we thrive. Mathew 12:34b highlights that what we speak is housed in our hearts. What occupies your heart? What are you saying? When was the last time you decluttered your heart’s abundance? As you reflect, on these questions, devote some time to talk to God on how He wants you to work on the matters of your heart. My hope is that you will make intentional adjustments that will keep you aligned with God’s purpose for you!

🙏🏾Prayer

Dear God,

Thank you, Lord, for your love and care. Your compassion fails not, and I am forever grateful that your mercies are new every morning. As I do a temperature check on my heart posture, guide me with Your word. Help me to daily declutter my heart by asking You to create in me a clean heart. Help me to study Your word so that Your word is what fill our hearts. When storms of life bump into me, I know Your word will spill out of my heart providing strength. Thank you for Your word that is everything I need for every situation in my life. Cover my heart and the parts of me that need You the most with your precious blood. God I trust you with my heart and my next!

Amen
